Gathering opened: 10:05 am, Janet Jones (recording secretary)
Attendance: Janet Jones; Sally Chappelle; Mody Botros; Nancylou Stiles; Virginia (Jinx) Staples; June Andshutz; Ruth Glantz; Joanne Morse; Earl Morse; Henry Hamilton; Guest: George Bradt from Bridgton News.

Secretary’s Report: Read by Janet Jones; Motion to accept minutes, 2nd and approved
Treasurer’s Report: Sally reported a total month deposit of $540.55, bringing a total amount of $774.77. There is allocation of $700.00 for the Native Americans and Nigeria ($350.00 ea.), giving a current $74.77 balance. Ruth Glantz stated there will be another $250.00 coming.
Motion: To accept Treasurer’s Report as, 2nd and approved
Motion: For the photograph donated by Henry Hamilton, for the silent auction, be
matted and possible plexi - glass be paid for by the CCC, approximate
cost $25.00. Motion was 2nd and approved.
Motion: That the starting bid for the Afghanistan photo start as $25.00 to defray cost of matting. Motion was 2nd and approved.
Coordinator’s Report:
Nancylou informed us that the bottles of water were picked up and are in the Church Nursery, Suggested that the donation for the small bottles of water be $0.50-$0.75. Jinx Staples and Judy Randall will be in charge of the distribution by the entrance door.
Nancylou gave background of the creation of the Community Celebration to George Bradt, Bridgton News. George Bradt has been assigned to the Celebration for the 9 days and continuous news coverage.
Shane Doyle has 35 mm film of most areas of the world, equipment and film available for anyone who would like to have as filler. Coordinators may contact him at 639-7256.
Banner has been donated and sponsored by Food City, Hannaford will not be participating, and therefore, Food City will sponsor the 2nd Banner. Each one will be at 302 entrances to Bridgton. The Fire department will hang them across the street.
Stewarts have been asked to assist Event Coordinators each evening, look for safety issues and disperse and adverse situations that may arise.
Brochures have been updated and in process of distribution, please take some and place in locations in your travels.
Event Coordinators have been asked to inform Nancylou, what activities and Silent Auction items, their program would like to commit to for Sunday Sept.24th Diversity Day. Schedule to date:
3-4 Jazz Band 5-6 Bag Pipes
4-5 Folk Dancing 6-7 Mr. Wilson Speech 7-8 the Troubadours
Awards and Silent Auction will also be included.
Schedules remain the same and everything is moving smoothly. She thanks everyone for there hard work.
Event Coordinators need to forward their schedule of their event so as programs may be prepared for the guests. Janet and Karen are working on the programs, please be sure they have the information.
On October14th from 10am -2pm there will be a 1 ½ hr gathering and pot luck hopefully International lunch to follow.
Henry did mention of anyone would like African Costumes to call he has plenty to outfit us.
Vendors: Donation was discussed it was decided that donation may be accepted but not required.
We only have the Explorer to cover events other then those already planned.
Programs; Karen and Janet will complete the programs this week and please send schedules of your event to Karen.
Door Prizes: Report given by Nancylou-Joan has been hard at work please see attachment for list of items and contributing businesses. Nancylou suggested that for the Door Prizes papers have spaces for the persons name and telephone number, e-mail and address. We will not share the information but can be used internally for another event(s).
Sally has a paragraph about the 18 for church bulletins if anyone is interested to contact her.
Motion: that we use only the names for each event for door prizes and not to pass remained on to next day. Motion 2nd and accepted.
Final updates were discussed and updated.
Boxes: 3 boxes will be needed for donation, door prizes and suggestions
Native American- All information has been presented at previous gatherings, she will be in contact with him soon. All is set to go.
Nigeria- Karen is handling that event. They have met several times and everything is set to go.
Publicity- Flyer passed around (to proof) that will be sent home to SAD#61 Elementary students. The Superintendent has authorized the bulletin. Corrections were noted and will be made. Also a requested to contact LRTV for active participation in recording the CCC week.
Need to have reader board state CCC Event, 400 flyers went out in the Chamber Chatter, Allen Crabtree is covering news articles.
Jinx- Small bottles of water will be done at entrance and donations will be accepted.
Mody- Reported that the original Essay and Poster Competition was not accepted by Steven’s Brook Elementary so he sent out 400 letters to area students’ ref: the Competition. The competitors will be interviewed, read and discussions for final winners. He showed the awards that will be given for each and a hand made paper art for the Silent Auction. This too will be matted. He also has received 3 $25.00 gift certificates and is getting 1000 balloons and helium tank. The posters will be displayed in the Sanctuary of the Church.
Joanne- German participants would like to have the Church opened at 1pm so as to be able to set up for their event. Card tables will be coming from the BCC and the Church chairs will be sufficient. It was mentioned that the Food Pantry area will not be available for use as this area will be blocked off this coming week.
All final receipts will be accepted at the October 14th Gathering for reimbursement.
On October 31 Nancylou will be hosting a hot cider and donut party. All are invited to her home.
